Raised in Washington D.C., MJ is a self-taught artist who started in 2020. With his background as a Mechanical Engineer, he applies the same diligence and detail in his artistic endeavors. MJ's work showcases his love for geometry, afro-futurism , and color symbolism as he composes these colorful pieces that capture the past, present, and future of the African diaspora. As a fan of intricate narratives with long term payoffs like Attack on Titan and first 6 seasons of Game of Thrones, MJ tries to incorporate that same spirit of narration through his own artwork. The paintings on display for the solo show represents the next chapter for his works in the past and will serve as the prologue for his paintings in the future.
